FRI JUL 25 |
Did you know that wearing your seatbelt is an example of harm reduction? Seatbelts help keep us safe during car accidents, and this isn’t the only way we reduce potential harm every day! Stop by the Stoughton Public Library this July to explore an educational showcase on how harm reduction is an integral part of everyday safety, not just in drug use protection.
Located in the LIbrary's upper mezzanine, the exhibit draws parallels between commonly accepted harm reduction tools, like seatbelts and sunscreen, and strategies used to support individuals with substance use disorders, such as naloxone distribution and safe use spaces. By doing so, it challenges stigmas and reframes harm reduction as a universal, compassionate approach to public health.
In addition to showcasing tools and strategies, the exhibit addresses how stigma and systemic barriers negatively affect people who use drugs. It calls for reducing these social stressors to better support the well-being and dignity of all community members.
Stop by any time the library is open!
