About
We collaborate with the Stoughton Police Department to carry out alcohol compliance checks, ensuring that local businesses adhere to laws governing alcohol sales. These checks are designed to confirm that licensed establishments are properly verifying identification and not selling alcohol to individuals under the legal drinking age of 21. In advance, businesses received an educational letter informing them that compliance checks would occur within a 30-day period.
Through these checks, we work to reduce underage drinking and strengthen the safety and well-being of our community!
Stoughton Wellness has been conducting compliance checks since 2018.

General ID Checking Tips
- Hold the ID in your hand to better see improper lamination, printing errors, etc.
- Compare the photo with the person in front of you, focusing on constant features that usually don't change much over time, like eyes and noses
- Check the date of birth, especially if you're handed a vertical ID
- If available, use a 365 NM UV light to look for errors, such as UV ink bleed through, glowing edges, or wrong blacklight ink colors
- If you suspect the ID is fake, you are protected by state statue to confiscate the ID or refuse service
