Stoughton Wellness Coalition Welcomes AHEC Intern this summer

Emma Putnam Stoughton Wellness Coalition is pleased to announce its partnership with the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) intern program to host a summer intern for the fifth year in a row. The AHEC intern program is renowned for its commitment to preparing students for careers in health professions by providing them with immersive, practical experiences. Interns are selected through a competitive process and placed in various local healthcare settings where they can apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges.
Stoughton Wellness Coalition hosted Emma Putnam, a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Health Promotion and Health Equity with a certificate in Global Health. Emma grew up in Sauk Prairie, Wisconsin. During her 8-week internship, Emma engaged in a variety of projects. She contributed to the Community Assessment by gathering qualitative data on youth substance misuse from community stakeholders and conducted environmental scans of local alcohol and tobacco retailers to evaluate their compliance with best practices aimed at minimizing their influence on Stoughton youth. Her work will help guide the coalition’s activities moving forward and her final report will be available on the website soon.
